Nathan Scholl, with his wife Christi and their kids (pictured left to right) Hunter, Andrew and Linden, answered the deep call to serve and, Lord-willing, bless the people of Charlottesville, Virginia. His family's arrival in August 2015 is the culmination of years of heart and head preparation:
Southern Roots - Nathan was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Christi in Durham, North Carolina
Northern and Central Exposure - Attended Wheaton College in Chicago, IL with degrees in Business & Economics
A seminary Degree from Reformed Theological Seminary
15 years in Student Ministry
3 young kids
The Scholls hope to be joyful servants of God's gospel of grace in this unique city that balances history & innovation, suffering & celebration, family & independence, and disciplines of the body & mind. They are profoundly grateful to be a part of the Charlottesville community.
DJ Carter and his wife Sarah - the Family Support Program Manager at ReadyKids - have one baby boy, Deacon Job, and are currently expecting. From Chatham, Virginia, DJ studied religion at Washington & Lee University, served in the Army for 6 years and received his Masters from Liberty University. He has also taught in public and Christian schools, managed organizations, supervised teams and is an ordained minister of the Good News. Yet, nothing connects more to his personal story of God’s love than his work as Executive Director of the Pregnancy Centers of Central Virginia and as worship leader at Christ Central Church. The Carters recently moved from the Prospect neighborhood of Charlottesville to Schuyler in Southern Albemarle County, where DJ likes to kick back by playing the guitar, smoking meats and riding his tractor.
Jacob Sawyer is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Virginia studying Studio Art (with a concentration in painting) and Art History. He enjoys putting his creative talents to use for the church - making the weekly slides and bulletins for Sunday worship, designing and updating the website, and creating promotional materials and designs for the church. He hopes to pursue a career as a graphic designer or illustrator upon graduating college in May, 2019.
Jacob is also involved in Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) at UVA, where he is in charge of leading the weekly Large Group meetings. He been greatly blessed by the Christian fellowship and community he has found there.
Jacob is excited to have found a church family in Christ Central, where he can be poured into and encouraged, while also using his God-given talents to bless others.
